List of works undertaken under SWACHH BHARAT MISSION
YEAR : 2022 - Swachhta Pakhwada : 16th - 31st December, 2022
A. Displayed banners at prominent places of this Institute. Administered Swachhta Pledge to all the Staff members/Officials. Stock taking & briefing of the activities to be organized during the Swachhta Pakhwada to all the Staff members was done and Tree plantation was organized at this Institute on 16-12-2022.
     
B. Basic maintenance: all the staff of the Institute uses the e-office for day-to-day work of administration. Cleaning of Office and corridors/premises of the Institute. Organized a swachhta campaign to bring about an improvement in the general quality of life in school children of Priol village, Goa and also to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and eliminating open defecation. Weeding out of old records was conducted. Some scraps were identified for systematic disposal during the campaign. All these activities were carried out on 17-12-2022.
       
C. Cleanliness/ waste collection drive was conducted in the village Veling, Goa which is adopted under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme and also briefed the villagers about segregation of plastic and biodegradable waste. Swachhta campaign was organized in the higher secondary school of Usgao village, Goa. The co-ordinator of the Swachhta pakhwada briefed the students on vermicomposting and also encouraged students for cost effective and appropriate technologies for ecologically safe and sustainable sanitation. ​ All these activities were carried out on 18-12-2022.
   
D. Cleanliness and sanitation drive was conducted within campus and surroundings including residential colonies and the Old Goa marketplace drainage channel. Segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and disposal​of same was done at this Institute. All these activities were carried out on 19-12-2022.
E. Under the Swachhta campaign today waste management activity/generation of wealth from waste was conducted utilizing organic waste and converting it into useful compost on 20-12-2022.
   
F. An awareness program was organized on 21-12-2022 by ICAR-CCARI, Goa for the contractual staff about recycling of waste water and importance of rain water harvesting. Dr. Sujeet Desai, Scientist (LWME) briefed the contractual labours about the process and importance of eco-friendly waste water treatment facility of the institute for recycling waste water of animal units and its utilisation. The labours were also briefed about the importance of rain water harvesting and its judicious use for agriculture and other allied activities.Cleaning, desiltation and banking was carried out of the percolation pond of this Institute.

     

G. A silent procession was organised where all the staff members/officials actively participated to spread the awareness regrading swachhta in surrounding area of this institute on 22-12-2022.
     
H. On account of Swachhta Pakhwada, A Special Day - Kisan Diwas was organized at Dhargal village on 23.12.2022 to spread awareness on Swachhta among farmers & farm women. Also felicitated Young Progressive Farmers. Honorable Shri. Narendra Singh Tomar, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare addressed on the occasion of Kisan Diwas held at this institute.
     
I. On account of Swachhta Pakhwada  to spread awareness about sanitation, a campaign  was organised at village Dhargal where masks and  sanitizer were distributed to farmers and farm women on 24-12-2022.
 
J. On account of Swachhta Pakhwada  removal of plastic waste  and cleaning of the highway was carried out as Swachhta Campaign on 25-12-2022.
     
K. A Drawing and an Essay Writing Competition was held for children of staff members of this institute on 26-12-2022.
       
L. A  webinar was organized at this Institute on 'Waste Management and Vermicomposting’, the speaker  Shri. Sanjay Patil, a Progressive farmer from Savoi Verem, Goa briefed about waste management and vermicomposting. Villagers of Marcel village, Goa, were briefed about vermicomposting, conversion of wealth from waste and natural farming.  The Swachhta Pakhwada co-ordinator delivered a lecture on segregation of waste, vermicomposting, conversion of wealth from waste and natural farming to the students of Goa College of Engineering Farmagudi, Goa,. Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kurti, Goa visited our Institute KVK, North Goa. They were briefed about waste management, vermicomposting, and natural farming. All these activities took place on 27-12-2022.
     
M. An awareness campaign was organized on "recycling of waste" at Bhironda, Valpoi, Goa on 28-12-2022. The speaker Shri. Uday Singh Rane, Sarpanch of Bhiroda Valpoi briefed about the vermicompost procedure and also demonstrated the same to all the villagers. This really encouraged the villagers to convert organic waste into very rich manure. Vermicompost bags were also distributed during the campaign.
   
N. Approximately 24 farmers visited our Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa on 29-12-2022. The Head I/c of KVK  briefed them about the entire process of vermicomposting to convert organic waste into useful compost to grow healthy plants and also how to segregate dry and wet waste.
 
O. Smt. Sandra Gonsalves, Sarpanch, and Shri. Harshad Dhulapkar, Panch of Old Goa village Panchayat visited our Institute on 30-12-2022. The Sarpanch addressed the gathering and agreed that Swachhta is the need of the hour and appreciated the efforts taken by the Institute to keep the campus clean. Both the VIPs were briefed about the entire activity of vermicomposting, converting the organic waste into useful farm manure.
       
YEAR : 2022 - Swachhta Pakhwada : 2nd - 31st October, 2022
A. Swachhta Pledge was administered to all the Officials/Staff members/Contractual Staff of the Institute and Undertaken cleaning and weeding of Sports ground area in the Institute Campus on 03-10-2022
       
B. Vermi-compost awareness programme was conducted at Uste Nagargaon Tal Sattari NG, Goa. In this Swachhta campaign 30 villagers participated along with anganwadi children and teachers.

Vermicompost bag was distributed to all the villagers. In addition Forest species plants were also distributed as part of Vanamohotsav to all the villagers on 04-10-2022.
     
C. Cleaning of Offices, Laboratories & Corridors in the main building by the Staff/Officials/Contractual Staff was done on 06-10-2022
   
D. Vermi-compost awareness programme was undertaken at Old Goa Panchayat. 13 Panchayat members were present for the said the Campaign and vermi-Compost bags were distributed on 07-10-2023.
   
E. Pruning of plants and trimming shrubs inside the boundary walls of the Institute Campus A was done on 08-10-2022.
 
F. Weeding of physical files pertaining to the Establishment section and Director Cell of this Institute was done on 10-10-2022.
 
G. Weeding of physical files pertaining to the Works and Stores Sections of this Institute was done on 11-10-2022.
 
H. Cleaning and painting of sign boards, Institute boards, doors of the main Administrative Building was undertaken during the Campaign was done on 12-10-2022.
     
I. Cleaning the outside of the boundary walls of the Institute in collaboration with the local Panchayat on 13-10-2022.
   
J. Rally for generating awareness about Swachhta in Old Goa was undertaken by all the Officials/Staff members/project staff and Contractual Staff of this Institute on 14-10-2022.
       
K. Pruning of plants and trimming shrubs inside the boundary walls of Block B of the Institute Campus was done on 15-10-2022.
     
L. Tree plantation drive was undertaken by all the Officials/ Staff members at this Institutes on 17-10-2022.
     
M. Checking and repairing the water leakages, and flush systems in all the washrooms of Block A, B, C of this Institute was done on 18-10-2022.
       
N. Cleaning, weeding and removal of plastic from the Residential Quarters area was done on 19-10-2022.
     
O. Cleaning the area near the old banyan tree near the nursery unit was undertaken at this Institute to make the area functional on 20-10-2022.
     
P. Cleaning the area in front of the Labour Shed to use it as a Vermi-compost Unit was done on 21-10.2022.
   
Q. Pruning of plants and trimming shrubs inside the boundary walls of the Institute Campus of Block C was done on 22-10-2022.
 
R. Cleaning and painting the field boards in the Institute campus wad done on 25-10-2022.
 
S. Cleaning, removal of plastic and other waste from the National Highway adjacent to the Institute was done on 26-10-2022.
     
T. Updating the sign board on the ground floor of the main building and disposal of old unserviceable scrap, machinery, scientific equipment and metal scrap was done on 27-10-2022.
          
U. Keeping of the Dust-bins at the Security gates and outside the main building was done on 28-10-2022.
         
V. Undertaken Plastic Waste Collection drive at Karmali railway Station, near Old Goa Panchayat and surrounding of Basilica of Bom Jesus Church, Old Goa on 29-10-2022.
     
W. Furniture's in one room of KVK Office were identified for repairing for future use on 31-10-2022.
