List of works undertaken under SWACHH BHARAT MISSION

YEAR : 2016

1. Owing to the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission lead by the Government of India, the ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute has actively organised a cleanliness awareness programme on 16th May, 2016.

              

14. As part of the fortnight cleanliness drive which started from 16th May, 2016 as special Swachhta Pakhwara, under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission lead by the Government of India,  a cleanliness drive was organized by this Institute on May 28, 2016 under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director of the institute. 

        

2. ICAR-CCARI, Goa conducted the Swachhta Campaign on 2nd October, 2016, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director (Acting) of the institute to commemorate the day the Swachh Bharat Mission of Govt. of India which was launched on 2-10-2014.. The cleanliness drive has covered the entire areas of the Institute and KVK. All the scientific and other staff of the Institute whole-heartedly participated in the cleanliness drive.

           

3. On 17th October, 2016 at 10.30 a.m. the Swachhta Shapath pledge was administered to all the staff of ICAR-CCARI, Goa. ( photos enclosed)
All the administrative staff carried out the cleanliness drive by cleaning and sweeping all the offices, laboratories & corridors.

                      

4. On 18th October, 2016, the administrative sections undertook weeding of old files/ records etc in accordance with the rules. Also KVK conducted awareness programme on cleanliness - Undertaken cleanliness drive by cleaning outside the walls of the Institute.

        

5. On 19th October, 2016, the staff of the Institute undertook the cleanliness drive by cleaning the entire main building, laboratories, field experimental plots, KVK building , common area premises, toilets, areas outside the office, Farm, Dairy units including Parking lots, pathways, etc. and area outside the Institute campus under the supervision of the Farm Superintendent.

              

6. On 20th October, 2016, all unserviceable junk stores items including furniture have been identified for disposal.

                           

7. On 21st October, 2016, a Cleanliness drive was undertaken with the family members of the staff residing in the residential complex to clean the entire residential campus, under the supervision of the Chairman of the Residential Quarters. (photos enclosed).
              

8. On 22nd October, 2016, an awareness programme on cleanliness was held in the Institute. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director (Acting) in his opening address emphasised on keeping the surroundings clean. He also said that segregation of the garbage, waste material is very important at individual level before handing over to the garbage collecting workers for proper garbage management.
A Lecture on “How to keep our environment clean and the different ways cleanliness impacts on productivity in the office” was delivered by Architect K.D. Sadhale, Environmentalist, Nirmal Vishwa. He is a person who has spent the past several years trying to persuade people to handle garbage in a scientific manner, for garbage is gold if properly handled. Mr. Sadhale believes that garbage management should be a local initiative wherein small groups dispose their biodegradable garbage on their own. As far as plastic is concerned, Mr. Sadhale preaches the four Rs - Refuse, Reduce, Repair, Recycle. Smt. Rekha Joshi also gave talk on Waste Management & Protecting Environment. She also demonstrated a coal stove which is environment friendly and also economical.
            

9. On 23rd October, 2016 , a Swachha Bharat Awareness Camp” was orgnaised by ICAR-CCARI, Goa in Collaboration with Old Goa Panchayat near Old Goa Educational Society at Katya Bhat. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar , Director (Acting) in his opening address emphasised on the use of Toilets to avoid the unhygienic surroundings. He also said that segregation of the garbage, waste material is very important at individual level before handing over to the garbage collecting workers for proper garbage management. Guest speaker Dr. P B Usgaonkar, Medical Officer discussed the importance of cleanliness of surroundings and its impact on personal hygiene. Shri Vinayak Fadte, Sarpanch, Se Old Goa chaired the programme and interacted with the participants and discussed the issues related to the toilets construction, garbage collection. He extended the greetings to everyone for participation in this programme for spreading Swachhta Awareness. Shri Satya Sai Samiti representatives were also participated on the occasion. A Cleanliness drive was also undertaken wholeheartedly by all the participants at the venue after the programme.

              

10. On 24th October, 2016, a drive was successfully undertaken for cleaning the pit behind the main building and filling it with soil.

               

11. On 25th October, 2016 a drive was undertaken to clean all the drinking water filters of the Institute and KVK.
