ICAR-CCARI, Goa organized awareness program on Water conservation

An awareness program on Water conservation through watershed approach was organized by ICAR-CCARI, Goa on 23-02-2023 at Veling-Priol-Cuncoliem village meeting hall of Ponda taluka. ICAR-CCARI, Goa is a Project Implementing Agency (PIA) of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Watershed Development Component (PMKSY-WDC 2.0) watershed project for Ponda block. The program was organized as a part of capacity building under PMKSY-WDC 2.0 project. About 70 farmers from Priol, Veling, Keri, Concoliem and Madkai villages of Ponda taluka participated in this program. The program consisted of lectures from the Scientists and project team of ICAR-CCARI, Goa. Dr. Sujeet Desai, Scientist (LWME) and PI of watershed project, briefed the farmers about the objective of the awareness program and delivered a presentation on watershed concept and soil and water conservation measures. Dr. A. Raizada, Principal Scientist (Agroforestry) delivered a lecture on Natural resource conservation through watershed management. Dr. Paramesh V. Scientist (Agronomy) discussed about the Integrated Farming System approach in the watersheds. Dr. Shripad Bhat, Scientist (Agricultural Economics) discussed about impact assessment and economic analysis of watershed projects. Videos of success stories of watershed projects implemented by Gujarat and Maharashtra state were also streamed during the program.
