Tree Planting pre-independence day activity

Avenue and ornamental plants were planted to keep the surrounding area clean and beautiful by the staff members of ICAR Research Complex for Goa under the guidance of Dr. Narendra  Pratap Singh, Director of the Institute on the National highway 4 passing through  the Institute campus.  The purpose of plantation of the trees is not only  to beautify  the environment   but also to reduce the  pollution and keep the air clean as a lot of vehicles are passing on the Highway. The National highway was cleaned of all its shrubs and unwanted growth by the staff members earlier  this week and the massive plantation drive was conducted on the eve of Independence day.  The Director appealed to the fellow citizens not to throw garbage on the National highway so as to keep the area clean and tidy especially with the upcoming event of the Exposition of St. Francis Xavier scheduled at the end of this year.

Apart from this, the Institute desires to go for insitu conservation of local plant like kokum, breadfruit and other locally important plant species which will provide the shelter for the different types of birds and also for the knowledge of  the primary and secondary school children.
