Field visit and interaction with progressive shrimp farmer at Thrissur, Kerala

    A field visit and interaction was carried out in a shrimp farm at Eriyad, Thrissur coastal district of Kerala on 1 December 2024. Mr. Murali, a progressive aquaculture farmer follows farming of Litopenaeus vannamei in a properly designed and lined pond of 40 cents with paddle wheel aeration. The visit was made on his request regarding the growth of the shrimp and maintenance of water quality in the system. Dr Sreekanth GB, Senior Scientist (FRM), ICAR-CCARI interacted with the farmer and shared the standard operating procedures for the farm operation specifically on the bio-security measures. The farmer assured continuous support for the research and development activities of the institute in the field of coastal aquaculture.
