ICAR-KVK, North Goa conducted training on Nursery management under TDC-NICRA in Khazan lands of Goa
ICAR-KVK, North Goa, and ICAR-CCARI, Goa, organized an insightful training program on Nursery Management under the TDC-NICRA initiative in the Khazan lands of Goa on November 29, 2024, at Mayem. The program aimed at enhancing agricultural practices among local farmers and farm women.
Dr. Udharwar S.V., SMS and In-charge of ICAR-KVK, North Goa, inaugurated the session by briefing the participants about the program's objectives and highlighting the significance of effective nursery management in improving agricultural productivity. Dr. Udharwar delivered a lecture on the Importance of Poultry Manure in Nursery Management, underlining its role in enhancing soil fertility and promoting healthy plant growth.
Shri Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), provided valuable insights into best practices for nursery management, which included soil preparation, seed selection, irrigation methods, pest control, and plant care. Ms. Shishira, Senior Research Fellow at TDC-NICRA, elaborated on vegetable production techniques and shared useful tips for improving vegetable yields, focusing on soil health and crop management.
In line with the program's objectives, 15 farmers were provided with Goa Cowpea-3 seeds (2 kg each) for front-line demonstration purposes. Additionally, various essential agricultural inputs were distributed to all participants to support their practices, including: Okra and Amaranthus seeds, Seed kits for various crops, Neem Soap for organic pest control, Pongamia Soap for soil enrichment and pest management, Arka Vegetable Special for enhanced vegetable growth, Vegetable Special Organic for sustainable cultivation, AMC Powder for plant health and disease prevention.
The distribution of these resources is aimed at empowering farmers with the necessary tools to improve their productivity while promoting environmentally friendly farming practices.
A total of 59 participants, comprising 37 male and 22 female farmers, attended the program. The event was coordinated by Shri Rahul Kumar, Dr. Udharwar S.V., Ms. Shishira, and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati.
