ICAR-CCARI participated in the event TARANG – Celebrating Collectivization organized by NABARD, Goa

     ICAR-CCARI, Goa participated in the event TARANG – Celebrating Collectivization Mela organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in partnership with Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) at Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji on 4th March 2024. In the inauguration function, Shri Arun Kumar Mishra, IAS, Secretary, Agriculture, Govt. of Goa who was the Chief Guest, highlighted the importance of collectivization, especially for small farmers in turning agriculture into a commercially viable business activity. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa highlighted the importance and scope of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in tapping the pan-India market for unique products such as Goan cashews. Guest of Honour, Shri Sanjay Patil - Padma Shri 2024 Awardee - spoke about natural farming and measures to reduce the cost of cultivation. Dr. Suresh Kunkalikar, Principal, Goa College of Agriculture spoke about the potential for Goan agriculture and Dr. Milind Bhirud, General Manager/Officer-In-charge, NABARD, Goa, highlighted the importance of such events in providing marketing and mutual learning avenues and uplifting the sales of FPOs with the help of ONDC network. From ICAR-CCARI, Goa, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director and Dr. Shripad Bhat, Senior Scientist (Agril. Economics) attended this event. Various FPOs from states such as Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa were present at the event and showcased their products through stalls.
