ICAR-CCARI, Goa organized orientation programme on Agriculture for Swayampurna Mitras to make Goa Self reliant
An orientation program on Agriculture for Swayampurna Mitras was organized by Directorate of Planning, Statistics & Evaluation, Govt of Goa in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa and ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa during 20-21 September, 2021.
In this program 104 Swayampurna Mitras from North Goa participated on 20/09/2021 and 95 Swayampurna Mitras from South Goa on 21/09/2021. The program started with welcome address by Shri. H R C Prabhu, Sr. Scientist and Head I/C, KVK-North Goa. He formally welcomed the participants and briefed about the program.
Dr. Durga Prasad, Director, Directorate of Planning, Statistics & Evaluation, Govt of Goa, in his address highlighted about Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa Program and gave us insight about various program conducted since its inception in October, 2020.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa in his address gave an overview about ICAR-CCARI along with significant research activities, technology packages developed for the benefit of farming community. He also emphasized on the current research priorities of the institute.
During the technical session various presentation which included, ‘Technologies of Horticultural Sciences’ by Dr. A.R. Desai, Principal Scientist (Fruit Science), ‘Technologies of Crop Improvement’ by Dr. K.K. Manahora, Senior Scientist (Genetics and Plant Breeding), ‘Technologies of Natural Resource Management’ by Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Scientist (Soil Science, ‘Technologies of Animal Sciences’ by Dr. Shivasharanappa, Senior Scientist (Veterinary Pathology), ‘Technologies in Fisheries sciences by Dr. Sreekant G.B, Scientist (FRM), “Transfer of Technologies’ by Shri. H R C Prabhu, Sr. Scientist & Head I/C, ‘Activities of ATMA’ by Mrs. Vismita Marathe, Deputy Project Director, ATMA-North Goa and “Various Schemes in Agriculture’ by Rouchelle Fernandes, Zonal Agricultural Officer, Tiswadi. It was followed by field visit, demonstration units including Virgin coconut oil unit.
The valedictory function of the Orientation programme was graced by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Goa. In his address he appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CCARI in developing technologies for the farmers of Goa. He also urged the Swayampurna Mitras to visit ICAR-CCARI regularly and help in disseminating ICAR-technologies to farming community to increase their income by increasing productivity of different crops.
The program ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar and Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO, ICAR – CCARI and was compered by Dr. Monica Singh, SMS (Ag. Extn).
