Farm Input Distribution Programme in Surla Village under the Integrated Farming System Project for improvement of nutrition and livelihood of farm women under different agro-ecosystems
Integrated farming system has the potential to make agriculture sustainable besides meeting the need of varying household requirements includes fruits, vegetables, fuel, and fodder. Keeping in view the potential of Integrated farming system, one day program for the farmer beneficiaries on farm input distribution was conducted by ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa in collaboration with Surla Farming Co-operative Society for distribution of vegetable seeds like bottle gourd, ridge gourd, vokra, green leafy vegetable seeds like methi, dill and coriander, fertilisers- micro nutrients and arecanut seedlings to around fifty farmers by hands of Hon’ble MLA Shri. Pramod Sawant at Surla village, North Goa District, on 21.07.2016. This Programme was organised under the collaborative project of ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa & ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar Project which is funded by ICAR.
Mr. Viswanatha Reddy, K. Scientist- Agricultural Economics briefly introduced about project on integrated farming system for improvement of nutrition and livelihood of farm women under different agro-ecosystems to the chief guest and gathering. Shri. Chidanand Prabhu, Programme Co-ordinator, In-charge of KVK, North Goa and Mr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble MLA, Sanquelim explained the action plans and schemes of Goa government regarding the development of agriculture. The presentation on feed and fodder management in Dairy Cattle was made by Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, Subject Matter Specialist, Animal Science. KVK, North Goa. Impact of these farm interventions on nutrition, livelihood and income of farmer beneficiaries will be evaluated in the next phase of the project.
