ICAR-KVK, North Goa Distributed Natural Farming Inputs and Farm Implements to ST Beneficiaries under Tribal Sub Plan

    ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, and ICAR-CCARI, Goa, conducted an input distribution program related to natural farming under TSP at Diwar, North Goa, on 6th December 2024.

Dr. S.K. Roy, Director of ATARI-Pune, was the Chief Guest of the program. He emphasized the significance of natural farming in enhancing soil health and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices. He highlighted that chemical-free farm produce not only improves soil quality but also offers better market prices, making it more attractive to consumers seeking organically produced vegetables.

The Sarpanch of Goltim-Navelim, Diwar, Mr. Mario Pinto, was the Guest of Honour at the event. He thanked the ICAR-KVK team for their continuous support in promoting natural farming and expressed his gratitude for distributing essential farming tools and inputs to the ST beneficiaries.

Dr. Udharwar S.V., Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) and In-Charge of KVK, welcomed the attendees and discussed the integration of animal components in natural farming. He encouraged farmers to adopt the advanced agricultural technologies developed by ICAR-CCARI to improve farm productivity and sustainability. Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), delivered an informative talk on various natural farming formulations, while Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO (Soil Science), demonstrated the preparation of these formulations in a practical session.

A total of 42 beneficiaries (35 males and 7 females) received natural farming inputs, which included a 200-litre plastic drum, 2 kg of jaggery and gram flour, as well as farm implements such as a spade and pickaxe (with handles). The event was coordinated by Dr. Udharwar S.V., Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati.
