Distribution of improved Poultry germplasm, poultry feed and supplements to tribal farmers of Goa under scheduled tribe component (STC)

ICAR-Central coastal agricultural institute, Old Goa conducted a distribution programme under scheduled tribe component (STC) for tribal farmers of Goa on 16th February 2023.The objectives of the programme are to popularise the improved varieties of backyard poultry and to augment the farm income, nutritional security of tribal farmers. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa addressed the farmers about importance of backyard poultry farming in goa. He also interacted with the participants about increasing their flock size and to increase their farm income. Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior Scientist and In-charge (Animal Science and Fishery Science) also interacted with the farmers for sustainable poultry production.  Total 11 numbers of farmers from divar, narve, nagoa and tiswadi areas of goa received various inputs like with layer birds var Grampriya (56 nos), grower feed (50 kg), supplements like vitamin supplement viz groviplex ,Amninovit  Calcium supplement i.e Can-D-Cal, Levamisole , Envurol, deworming agent i.e Albomar antimicrobials such as meriquin and topicure spray, supercox powders.  Folders on “Incubation and hatching-problems and prevention” and “Poultry as a component in agro-ecotourism” were distributed among farmers. Dr. Nibedita Nayak, Scientist (Poultry science) co-ordinated the programme and discussed about the dosage and uses of these supplements for poultry. Mrs. Atasha D’Mello, YP-II assisted in distribution and documentation of the programme.
