Training Programme on Quality seed production
A Training was organized on Quality Seed production during 5-6 March, 2014 at the Institute under the Mega Seed Project. A total of 64 participants consisting of the registered seed growers of the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Goa from Betki-Ponda, the FLD farmers from Sangolda &Guirim- Bardez Goa, attended the programme. The inaugural session of the training programme was held on 5th March 2014 in the morning session in which Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh Director of ICAR RC, GOA delivered the key note address. Shri. P.Tufani, Director, Directorate of Agriculture highlighted the important schemes of the Directorate. Dr.B.L.Manjunath, Nodal Officer of Mega Seed Project highlighted the importance of seed production in major crops of the region.
Training involved lectures on different aspects of seed production in major field & horticulture crops of the region including plant protection, maintainance of seed quality grading &other processing. It was followed by field visit to rice seed production plot at Betki –Ponda, Goa and further discussion including production of biocontrol agent vermicompost etc. The plenary session of programme was held on 06th March, 2014 in which participants of training express their feeling & it was followed by distribution of certificates of training programme.
