RAC Team of ICAR-CCARI visits STC outreach activities of the institute
The first meeting of the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of ICAR-CCARI, Goa was held from 15-16th April 2024. The meeting was chaired by Dr. S. D. Sawant (Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Maharashtra) and attended by the RAC members Dr. Manoj P. Samuel (Executive Director, Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, Kerala), Dr. Raj Kumar Gautam (Principal Scientist & Head, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi), Dr. V. Sejian (Dean, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education & Research, Puducherry), Dr. Grinson George (Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-CMFRI, Kerala) in online mode, Dr. Sengottaiyan Vennila (Ex-Principal Scientist, ICAR- NCIPM, New Delhi), Dr. Venkatesh Ganesh Prabhu Desai (Progressive farmer, Goa), Dr. A. Velmurugan (ADG- S&WM, NRM Division, ICAR, New Delhi), Dr. Parveen Kumar (Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa) and Member Secretary Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware (Senior Scientist, ICAR-CCARI, Goa). The RAC team and the Director along with the scientific and technical staff visited the STC outreach activities of the institute on 16th April at Canacona, South Goa. The various outreach activities at Ziltawadi and Badsare villages of Gandongrim panchayat, Canacona were visited where the institute technologies have been demonstrated in the community farming. Various inputs like quality planting material of horticultural crops, farm tools, processing machinery along with the irrigation infrastructure has been provided to the STC community farming groups to improve the crop productivity and income. The RAC team during the visit had a detailed discussion with the ST farmers about the impact of ICAR-CCARI technologies on their crop yield income and improvement in livelihood. The RAC chairman and members appreciated the passionate efforts of the scientists for the technological interventions made and work done under the STC component during the last few years by the institute to improve the livelihood of the tribal farmers of Goa. The field visits to the outreach activities were coordinated by Dr. A. R. Desai, Dr. Sujeet Desai, Dr. R. Solomon Rajkumar, Dr. Gopal Mahajan and Dr. Dhillan Velip.
