ICAR-CCARI, Goa organised a Training cum Demonstration on sustainable backyard poultry production at Carona village, Goa

A training cum demonstration programme on sustainable backyard poultry production was conducted by ICAR-CCARI, Goa at Lilwyn Eco Agri Farm, Carona village, Bardez taluka, Goa under NABARD funded project on 1st March 2024. The training program was attended by total 21 poultry farmers including seven women participants from Bardez Taluka, Goa. In his inaugural address, Adv. Carlos Ferreira, MLA, Aldona emphasized on the importance of integrated farming with different kinds of poultry and poultry entrepreneurship programme for farmers and youth of Goa. He also interacted with the farmers about their expectations from the training and encouraged them to acquire skills in different fields. Practical demonstration was conducted on brooding of chicks, cleaning and disinfection of brooder house, litter material selection and its management, growing healthy chick to adults by Dr. Nibedita Nayak, Scientist (Poultry science). Another practical demonstration was conducted on vaccinations, bio-security measures, deworming, disease prevention and health management of backyard poultry by Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior Scientist (Veterinary Pathology) and Section In-charge (Animal & Fishery Sciences). There was also an interactive session with the poultry farmers followed by feedback from the participants. The training was conducted at Lilwyn Eco Agri farms run by integrated farmers Mr. Merwyn and Mrs. Lillian Fernades. Technical assistance was rendered by Mr. Narayan Gawas, Project Assistant and Mr. Limo Bhomkar, High Skilled staff.
