ICAR-CCARI, Goa organised an interaction cum demonstration session for the farmers from Bardez taluka at Aldona, Goa

 

An interaction cum demonstration session was organised for the farmers from Bardez taluka on 23/01/2024 at Aldona, Goa. The purpose of the interaction was selection of beneficiaries under NABARD Funded project “Promotion of improved indigenous backyard poultry through scientific interventions for sustainable poultry production and livelihood security in Goa”. The program was attended by total 52 farmers(19F+33M) from different villages of Bardez Taluka. In his welcome address, Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior scientist (Veterinary Pathology) & Section Incharge, Animal and Fisheries Sciences discussed various bio-security and health care measures for prevention and management of diseases in poultry. This was followed by introduction of participants and the constraints faced by them in backyard poultry farming. Various queries were answered by the scientists and demonstrations on feed preparation and vaccination was shown practically. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Vithal Naik, President, Nachinola farmer’s club. Mr. Aniket Manderkar, Vety. Assistant, Aldona and PMC member, Mrs Elizah D’ souza. Extension folders on Economic feeding of backyard poultry, Duck production for coastal farmers, Rural poultry farming and Incubation -hatching: problems and prevention were distributed among the farmers. Brief talk on Management aspects of poultry farming and seasonal rearing of flock was given by Dr. Nibedita Nayak, Scientist (Poultry Science). The programme was assisted by Mr. Siddhesh Korgoankar, YP-1 and Mr. Narayan Gawas, project assistant. The program ended with vote of thanks to the farmers and NABARD.
