PMFME Sponsored SHG Seed capital Beneficiary Training Programme
One-day Seed Capital SHG Training session was conducted On November 1, 2023, benefiting a total of 35 individuals in two batches – Batch I - 20 beneficiaries & Batch II – 15 beneficiaries from the Bicholim Taluka of North Goa district. The training covered various important aspects of food processing industries and was facilitated by expert professionals.
Dr. Mathala Gupta, Principal Scientist from ICAR CCARI and Master Trainer PMFME, provided training on several topics. Which included an introduction to the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme and other government schemes supporting food processing enterprises, understanding importance of food processing industries, and value addition and potential of processing products to Goa.
Mr. Pravin Sabsin , Head Coach , Unlearning Unlimited Panaji, addressed Branding, Marketing, motivation, inventory management, and working capital management during the training session. Participants were guided on the importance of product identification, maintaining records of daily transactions, maintaining purchase and sales registers, and making informed working capital decisions, including having cash available for emergencies.
Er. Vinod Atkari, Assistant Professor, Goa College of Agriculture, Old Goa, delivered a briefing on packaging methods and the various machines involved in packaging through virtual mode.
Additionally, Ms. Safia Khan , Food Safety Officer from the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, provided valuable information on the basics and benefits of FSSAI registration and licensing, including the requirements outlined in Schedule IV of FSSAI. These requirements encompass practices such as good manufacturing, hygiene, and laboratory practices, as well as the mandatory testing of food products. Ms. Safia also touched upon Udyami registration and GST.
To further enhance the training experience, participants had the opportunity for hands-on training at the postharvest lab and the Food Lab of ICAR-CCARI. These practical sessions, led by Dr. Mathala Juliet Gupta and Er. Kiran Bablo Kharat allowed participants to apply their knowledge within food-based domains.
In conclusion, the one-day Seed Capital SHG Training successfully equipped 35 beneficiaries in two batches from the North Goa district with valuable knowledge in various aspects of food processing industries. The training was conducted by Dr. Mathala Gupta, Mr. Pravin Sabnis, Er. Vinod Atkari, and Ms. Safia Khan provided participants with essential skills and insights to thrive in their respective endeavours. The trainings were also assisted by Er. Kiran Bablo Kharat & Mrs. Sonali Desai Kulkarni, Young Professionals of ICAR-CCARI.
