ICAR-CCARI organised “On-farm training-cum-demonstration” and distribution on 1st December 2023 in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Goa

 

            ICAR-CCARI, Goa organised one day on farm training cum demonstration on scientific Pig farming on 1^st December 2023 at institute pig unit, Old Goa. Five farmers from different talukas of South Goa attended the programme. Dr Shirish D. Narnaware (Senior Scientist and Section In-charge, Animal and Fisheries Sciences) briefed the participants about the backyard and organized commercial piggery farming. Dr Amiya Ranjan Sahu (Scientist and In-charge of AICRP on Pig) explained the farmers about housing, feeding, routine farm management, care of farrowing sows and piglets, disease prevention, deworming, and vaccination. Dr. Laximan Sawant (SMS, South Goa KVK) briefed the farmers on advantages of rearing improved crossbred pigs and importance of maintaining indigenous pigs. Essential vitamin and mineral supplements were distributed to the farmers under AICRP on Pig. Also, the farmers were supplied with 15 piglets under funding provision of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Goa. Dr Amiya Ranjan Sahu, Dr. Laximan Sawant and Dr. Shirish Narnaware co-ordinated the programme. Mr. Vithal Naik (YP-I) and Mr. Kiran Hangaragi (YP-I) helped in arrangements and other activities during distribution of inputs.
