Five-day Organic Inputs Production vocational training concluded

 

    The Five-Day Vocational Training on Organic Inputs Production concluded on October 11, 2024, at KVK, Old Goa, organized by ICAR-CCARI, KVK, North Goa. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, was the chief guest of the function. In his address, he emphasized the significance of on-farm production of organic inputs to minimize production costs, eliminate reliance on off-farm inputs, enhance agricultural productivity, and preserve soil health and environmental safety. Dr. Parveen Kumar distributed jeevamrit, vermicompost production kits, vegetable seed kits, and participation certificates to the beneficiaries. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, North Goa, urged the participants to become entrepreneurs and establish input production units that generate quality organic inputs for nearby farmers at reasonable prices. Ms. Nishita Gaude, former Sarpanch of Cumbharjua village, provided her insights on the training, highlighting how important it is for grassroots implementation of organic farming. Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), briefly described the training program. During the events, specialists from ICAR-KVK and ICAR-CCARI presented on the scope and significance of organic inputs production in Goan agriculture, the principles and concepts of organic farming, transition periods in organic farming, organic seed treatment and seed priming techniques, green manure seed production technology, the production and application of phosphorus-enriched organic manure, various composting methods and fermented organic liquid manure, Azolla production and its utilization, vermicomposting techniques, effective microorganism formulations and biocontrol agents, as well as preparation methods for Neemastra, Brahmastra, Dasparni Ark, and Agniastra, production of fish and egg amino acids, preparation of bankable projects, and record maintenance. In this program, sixty-one (7 males and 54 females) participants attended and benefited. The event program was coordinated by Course Directors Mr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr. Parmesha V., Dr. Gopal R. Mahajan, and Mr. Rahul Kulkarni.
