ICAR-CCARI, Goa organised ‘On-farm training-cum-distribution’ in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Goa
ICAR-CCARI, Goa organised one day training-cum-distribution on scientific Pig farming on 22 August 2024 at the institute pig unit, Old Goa. Five farmers from Quepem and Salcete talukas of South Goa attended the programme. Dr. Amiya Ranjan Sahu (Scientist) explained the farmers about housing, feeding, routine farm management, care of farrowing sows and piglets, disease prevention by deworming and vaccination. Dr. Laximan Sawant (SMS, South Goa KVK) briefed the farmers about the purpose of this front-line demonstration and advantages of rearing improved crossbred pigs. The farmers were supplied with 25 piglets under funding provision of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Goa. Also, mineral mixture and extension folder on scientific pig farming were distributed to the farmers under AICRP on Pig. Dr Amiya Ranjan Sahu and Dr. Laximan Sawant co-ordinated the programme. Mr. Kiran Hangaragi (YP-I) and Ms. Samradni Paigankar (YP-1) were associated with registration of farmers and other activities during this training and distribution of inputs.
