National Milk Day Celebrated by ICAR-CCARI, Goa
ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa celebrated National Milk Day at Ibrampur on 28/11/2017 on the occasion of 96th birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien. The program was chaired by Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director (A), ICAR-CCARI, along with Shri. H.R.C Prabhu, PC, KVK, North Goa, Shri Subhash Sawant, Head master, Sateri Vidya Mandir, Mrs Sonali Shekar Pawar, Sarpanch, Village Panchayat Ibrampur-Hankhane, Shri Govind Sawant, Chairman Shri Sateri Milk producers cooperative society, Mr. Pramod Hingmare, Representative Delaval Pvt Ltd, Dr. Sanjay Udharwar, Dr. Susitha Rajkumar, Dr. Chethan Kumar, Ms. Maneesha, S.R. from ICAR-CCARI. Dr. Sanjay Udharwar compered the program. The Program was attended by dairy farmers and secondary school students. Shri. H.R.C Prabhu provided formal welcome to the dignitaries and dairy farmers. Dr. Chethan Kumar explained the reason behind observing National Milk Day and contribution of Dr. Verghese Kurien to the Indian dairy industry. Mrs Sonali Shekar Pawar, elaborated on importance of milk for human health for the attendees. Shri Subhash Sawant urged the dairy farmers to follow the standard package of practices provided by ICAR-CCARI in the past three years. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, addressed the gathering and delivered an awareness lecture on importance of Clean Milk Production to the dairy farmers. Mr. Pramod Hingmire, explained about the dairy related equipments and services available from Delaval Pvt. Ltd. An essay competition on the topic Importance of Milk in Human Nutrition was also organised for the secondary school students of the Sateri Vidya Mandir. Later Dr. E.B. Chakurkar distributed teat dip cup and teat disinfectant to 20 dairy farmers and prize was distributed to the winners of essay competition. Dr. Sanjay Udharwar delivered vote of thanks.
