ICAR-KVK North Goa Distributed Poultry Birds under TDC-NICRA to Farmers of Mayem, Goa
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, distributed Srinidhi poultry birds to farmers in Mayem village, Bicholim taluka, North Goa, under the Technology Demonstration Component of the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) on 2nd December 2024.
A total of 100 Srinidhi poultry birds were distributed to five farmers by Dr. A. Raizada, Principal Scientist (Agroforestry) and Director In-charge, ICAR CCARI Goa. He encouraged the farmers to stay in touch with ICAR scientists for further guidance on scientifically rearing the birds and adopting methods for backyard poultry farming. This initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of farmers in the region by promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices through innovative poultry farming techniques.
Dr. Udharwar S.V., Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) and In-Charge of KVK, explained to the farmers the significance of regular health monitoring, including vaccination schedules, parasite control, and biosecurity measures, to prevent diseases and ensure high survival rates and productivity. The program was coordinated by Dr. Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO (Soil Science), and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati.
