Training on Natural Farming organized by ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa
ICAR-KVK, North Goa, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Goa, organized a training program on Natural Farming at the Zonal Agricultural Office, Pernem, on 18.07.2024. Mr. Uday Prabhu Desai, Chairman of Padne Farmer Producer Company, Pernem, was the chief guest. He highlighted the importance and demand of natural farming produce and enlightened the advantages of natural farming and the ill effects of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. He also produces and sells natural farming products such as millet, turmeric, jaggery powder, etc., through his FPC. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, North Goa, briefed the scope and significance of natural farming, in decreasing soil and water pollution, conserving biodiversity and mitigate the impact of climate change by minimizing the utilization of fertilizers and agricultural chemicals. Mr. Prakash Raut, ZAO of Pernem, emphasized the significance of Natural Farming in daily agricultural practices. He thanked and congratulated the effort made by ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa for successfully organizing such a significant program. Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), ICAR-KVK, North Goa, explained the principles and practices of Natural Farming. He also demonstrated the preparation of natural pest repellants using Neemastra and Agneyastra formulations. Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO (Agronomy), showcased the process of preparing Natural Farming products, specifically Jeevamrut and Ghana Jeevamrut. The millet seeds of Proso millet, Kodo millet, Little millet, Foxtile millet, and Finger millet were distributed to progressive farmers under front-line demonstration. A total of 20 farmers participated and benefited in this training program. Mr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. N. Bommayasamy, and Mr. Rahul Kulkarni coordinated the program.
