Two-day natural farming training cum demonstration by ICAR-KVK, CCARI, Goa

 

ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa conducted a two-day natural farming training cum demonstration at Advoi Sattari Goa village, Bhironda panchayat of Sattari taluk from 24 to 25 January, 2024, as part of the out-scaling of natural farming through KVKs. Bhironda panchayat Sarpanch Shri Udaysing I Rane was the chief guest. In his inaugural speech, he urged farmers that overusing fertilizers and pesticides harms the environment and soil health. Our fragile ecosystem should be protected by avoiding fertilizers and pesticides. Dr N.Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, discussed the importance of adopting natural farming practices such as beejamrut, ghanajeevamrut, jeevamrut, and mulching, which improve soil health and fertility, soil organic carbon content, and soil microbial biomass. Mr. HRC Prabhu, SMS (Plant Protection), emphasized that natural farming is a viable alternative to conventional farming practices that directly or indirectly impact of sustainability agricultural production. As part of the programme, Mr Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO (Agronomy), demonstrated jeevamrut and beejamrut preparations, and distributed seeds of coriander, radish, spinach, brinjal, and fruit crop planting materials to sixty-one-participants (55 male and 6 female). The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Rahul Kulkarni. The programme was organized under the supervision and guidance of Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa.
