Natural Farming training cum input distribution
The training cum input distribution on Natural Farming was conducted by ICAR-CCARI, KVK, North Goa at Ambedem, Satari Taluka, North Goa, on 13.08.2024. Dr N Bommayasamy, Head & Senior Scientist, KVK North Goa, urged the farming community to adopt natural farming practices, to reduce production costs by encouraging farmers to prepare essential biological inputs using on-farm, natural, and homemade resources. He emphasized that natural farming practices has potential to solve various issues, including the distress experienced by farmers, health issues caused by pesticide and fertilizer residue in food and water, and the impact of climate change in crop production. Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, an ACTO (Agronomy), explained the procedure for preparing Jeevamrut and Ghana Jeevamrut and their application methods in different crops. Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), discussed different methods for preparing plant extracts, such as dashapani ark, chilli-garlic-ginger, and neemastra, which are used for effective management of pest in crops. During the event, jeevamrit kits, viz., a drum, jaggery, and gram flour, were distributed to the farmers. A total of sixty-seven (67) participants attended this program, consisting of forty-seven males and twenty females. Among them were twenty-three students from Government High School, Ambedem also attended. Dr N. Bommayasamy, Mr Rahul Kulkarni, and Mr Rahul Kumar coordinated the program.
