Training on Natural Farming Organized by ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa

    ICAR-KVK, CCARI, Goa, organized a training program on Natural Farming at Sal Training Hall, KVK, North Goa, on January 7, 2025. The event aimed at imparting knowledge and practical skills related to Natural Farming to farmers in the region.

    Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy) ICAR-KVK, North Goa, began the session by delivering a welcome address. He provided briefing on the principles and practices of Natural Farming, highlighting its significance and the benefits it offers. In addition, he demonstrated the preparation and application of Jeevamrut and Ghanajeevamrut, guiding the participants through the hands-on process of making these essential natural farming inputs. Afterward, he expressed his gratitude and led the participants on a tour of the KVK’s demonstration plot dedicated to Natural Farming practices.

    Dr. Udharwar S.V., SMS (Animal Science), delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the importance of cow dung and urine in enhancing income from indigenous cattle. He emphasized their crucial role in natural farming systems. Following this, Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Agronomy), presented on the preparation and application of Neemastra and Agneyastra, highlighting their importance in pest management. He also shared valuable insights on the interconnected roles of soil, seed, and sustainability in Natural Farming, emphasizing the holistic approach needed for sustainable agriculture. The program concluded with an interactive group discussion that fostered a collaborative environment for knowledge exchange between KVK officials and the participating farmers. A total of 30 participants (7 males and 23 females) attended the training, gaining practical experience and a deeper understanding of Natural Farming. To support their ongoing efforts, all participants received Natural Farming kits. The event was effectively coordinated by Mr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr. Udharwar S.V., Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati.
