ICAR-CCARI, Goa in collaboration with NABARD organised distribution of Inputs and demonstration programme for farmers

An input distribution cum demonstration programme was conducted under NABARD Funded project “Promotion of improved indigenous backyard poultry through scientific interventions for sustainable poultry production and livelihood security in Goa” at Poultry unit of ICAR-CCARI, Goa on 9th April 2024. Inputs like 25 chicks, 50kg chick feed, one feeder, one waterer were distributed to the five farmers each. Dr. Nibedita Nayak, Scientist (Poultry Science) and PI of the project guided the farmers about placement and brooding of chicks, summer management of birds, biosecurity and health care etc. Dr. Amiya Ranjan Sahu, Scientist (AGB) and CO-PI of the project described about various breeds, their breeding and mating strategies, selection of birds for optimum productivity in flock. Technical assistance and demonstration for using the feeder and precise drinker was rendered by Mr. Narayan Gawas, Project Assistant and Mr. Vithal Naik, YP1.
