The biomass of nutritious nutmeg pericarp (rind) is simply left behind in the garden for rotting after collecting the seed and mace. The process for manufacturing of Nutmeg Pericarp Taffy technology has commercial values owing to the fact that this value added product is prepared by utilizing nutmeg pericap, which usually gets wasted in the fields. Adoption of this technology will definitely fetch additional income to the nutmeg farmers. This patented technology was developed by Dr. A. R. Desai, Principal Scientist (Fruit Science) from Horticulture section of the Institute. The Institute Technology Management Unit facilitated the process for MoA signing.
