Inaugurated a millet processing unit and exhibition with the technical guidance of ICAR-CCARI, Goa
A millet processing unit and exhibition were inaugurated with the technical guidance of ICAR-CCARI, Goa at Marcela, Goa on 22nd April 2023. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, inaugurated the processing unit and exhibition. The Jeevak Industries, Marcela, Goa diversified its products as Jeevak Nutrition by processing different millets products. Value-added products of all three major (sorghum, pearl millet, finger millet) and six minor (Kodo millet, Proso millet, Foxtail millet, Little millet, Barnyard millet) millets are being produced under the brand name Jeevak Nutrition. The processed product includes flour, pudding, traditional Goan millet preparation (Ambili), etc. Considering the importance of millets in the diet and the International Year of Millets 2023, Shri. Dileep Sawaikar took the initiative to undertake to process of millets to popularise them and to generate employment as well as additional income. “Mr. Dileep has set an example for the entrepreneurs to take millet processing as a business option”, Dr. Parveen Kumar said. He further assured that the Insitute would continue providing necessary technical backstopping to make the venture successful and motivate young entrepreneurs. The exhibition was attended by scientists, farmers, self-help groups, students, etc.
