ICAR organized a training cum workshop on ‘Nutritional recipes of Millets’

        ICAR organized a training cum workshop on “Nutritional recipes of Millets” for women on 14.07.2023 at ICAR – KVK, North Goa. The objective of the training was to create awareness about nutritional value of millet and to impart skill in making various recipes out of millets. The aim of the training was to motivate people to change their dietary pattern and include more and more millet product in diet. Around 25 women participated in the training. The programme started with welcome of two experts of the training, Mrs. Anjana Gupta, an ardent follower of millet-based diet and Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar, Ex-SMS (Home Science), ICAR – KVK, North Goa by Dr. Monica Suresh Singh, SMS (Agricultural. Extension). Mrs. Anjana Gupta highlighted about the importance of millets in daily diet and demonstrated preparation of sweet as well as salty barnyard porridge. She also showed preparation of dry fruit foxtail millet halwa, foxtail millet upma and fried rice made of little millet. Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar in her address spoke on the nutritional aspects of millets and demonstrated recipes for preparation of mixed millet idli, mix millet appam, ragi vermicelli and jawar rotis.  Trainees also were given a chance to make rotis for jawar which became highlight of the training. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Monica Suresh Singh, SMS (Agricultural. Extension), Shri. HRC Prabhu, Senior Scientist and Head (I/c), Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati, Technical (Computer) and Mrs. Shishira D (SRF).
