ICAR-CCARI, Goa organized an awareness program on millets for central and state government organizations
ICAR – Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, has been organizing a series of events to raise awareness about the production and consumption of millets. ICAR-CCARI organized an awareness programme for ten central and state government organizations situated in the state of Goa on 12-09-2023.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, delivered a lecture on ‘Shree Anna: Role of millets in global nutritional security, climate adaptations, health and prosperity’. He simplified and stressed upon the importance and health and nutritional benefits of the consumption of millets. ‘Millets are climate resilient and less water requirement crops and thus makes these certain crops for uncertain future’, he said.
The multi-institutional congregation included participants from CSIR-NIO, FCI, Police Department, ETDC, ESIC, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Census of India, LIC, NSSO, and ICAR-CCARI, Goa. The program was attended by 60 delegates and coordinated by Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Mr. Vinod Ananda Ubarhande, Dr. Mathala Juliet Gupta, Mr. Shashi Vishwakarma and Dr. Bappa Das.
