Director, ICAR-CCARI and team visited paddy research station and IFS farmer in Coastal district of Karnataka

 

    Dr. Parveen Kumar visited the Paddy Research Station in Malgi near Sirsi and an Integrated Farming System (IFS) farmer in Kumta, located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka on 21st and 22nd  April, 2024 . Dr. Manohara KK, Senior Scientist (Plant Breeding), and Dr. Paramesha V, Scientist (Agronomy), accompanied him during the visit. Dr. Sathish RG, the Officer In-charge of the Malgi paddy station, provided an overview of the center's activities and discussed collaborative endeavors with ICAR-CCARI. The team also visited Mr. Nagaraj Naik, a progressive farmer in Kagal village, Kumta taluka. Mr. Naik shared details about the diverse activities conducted within his small IFS unit. The Director was briefed on seed production initiatives and demonstrations featuring salt-tolerant rice varieties, indicating the successful performance of the institute's released varieties in the coastal saline soils of Karnataka.
