Workshop on “Methods for isolation of Listeria monocytogenes”

 

 

 A workshop on “Methods for isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from  foods and clinical samples” was organized at ICAR Research Complex for Goa, Old Goa under the aegis of Centre of Excellence and Innovation in Biotechnology project on “Translational Centre for Molecular Epidemiology of Listeria monocytogenes (TranceLis) sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India on 28th February and 1st March, 2014. 

         Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director, ICAR Research Complex for Goa, Old Goa inaugurated the workshop. He appealed the participants to take full advantage of the workshop to learn new techniques for isolation of bacterial pathogens.  Twenty four participants from various institutions participated in the programme. Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Principal scientist and PI of the project welcomed the participants. He later presented  an overview of listeriology. Dr. N.V. Kurkure, Associate Professor of Pathology, Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur presented an account of methods for detection of Listeria from food and clinical samples. Methods of detection of Listeria were demonstrated to the participants.
