Linkages between Financial Institutions and Self-Help Groups

 

    As part of 100 days of activities, ICAR-CCARI, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, in collaboration with Lead Bank (SBI) and Canara Bank, jointly organized a program on 'Self-Help Groups Linkages with Financial Institutions' at Gram Panchayat Hall, Assonora, Bardez, North Goa on 07.10.2024. Fifty-one SHG members (02 Male and 49 Female) from 26 Self-Help Groups participated and benefited from this program. The programme was organized under the leadership and guidance of Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa. 

    Dr N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and head of KVK North Goa, briefed on the importance of SHGs and the financial linkage programme for micro-financial service to rural women by providing easier access to credit and reducing reliance on informal money lenders. Dr. Sripad Bhat, Senior Scientist (Agriculture economics), discussed product registration, SHG marketing strategies, buyer-seller relationships, and E-Marketing to reach targeted beneficiaries easily.

    Mr. Anandrao Palve, Branch Manager of Canara Bank, Assonora, explained the detailed project proposal preparation and financial assistance from commercialized financial institutions. He encouraged eligible women artisans to take more benefits from the PM-Vishwakarma Yojana. Mrs Anuja Karekar, Relationship Manager Rural Business, Regional Office, North Goa, discussed various financial assistance for SHGs' economic activities in primary, secondary food processing and animal husbandry, including loan and subsidy assistance. She explained financial facilities of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and PMFME fund for SHG food processing entrepreneurs development. Dr N. Bommayasamy, Dr Udharwar S.V., Mrs Hema Bugade, and Mr Rahul Kumar coordinated the program.
