ICAR – CCARI Celebrated International Labour Day as a “Shramik Samman Diwas”
ICAR – Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Ela, Goa has celebrated the International Labour Day’2024 as a “Shramik Samman Diwas” on 1st May to recognise and applause the contribution of the labourers of all the sections / units in the development of the Institute. Shri Subhash Chandra, IAS, Secretary (Social Welfare), Govt. of Goa graced the occasion as a Chief Guest and Dr. J. R. Faleiro, Consultant, UN - FAO was Guest of Honour. All the guests gave their remarks and shared their views and experiences with the participants in relation with the social security and welfare schemes for the workers.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR CCARI, along with the delegates, felicitated all the labourers on this occasion by presenting them the Hat for field work, befitting with the International Labour Day theme for 2024 - “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in A Changing Climate”. He has briefed the gathering about various welfare activities and facilities being provided and being created for the labourers in Institute premises viz. dispensary, free coaching classes for children of workers and voluntary support for their higher education. Chief guest applauded the celebration of Shramik Samman Diwas by CCARI in such inclusive and holistic way. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Sr. Scientist cum Head, KVK also interacted with workers. Vinod Ubarhande, Farm Superintendent and Coordinator of the programme reminded, while affirming that the Institute will always protect the rights of labourers, all should deliver their duties with the feeling of belongingness and with utmost sincerity.
A special screening of the movie “12th Fail” was organised for all the workers and their children to inspire them and to showcase the motivation and struggle of Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma to become IPS officer through UPSC exam. Total 200 participants including contractual labours, security guards, housekeeping staff, project staff, young professionals and Institute staff members attended the programme. Shri Rahul Kulkarni (ACTO) assisted in organization of the programme and presented vote of thanks. Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati (TO) extended the technical support for the programme.
