Capacity Development Programme for Anganwadi Worker and Farm Women on Poshan

ICAR – KVK, North Goa, ICAR – CCARI, Goa, organized Capacity Development Programme for Anganwadi Workers and Farm Women on Poshan at Dr. A. R. Bhattacharya hall, ICAR – CCARI, Goa, on 17th September, 2020. This programme was organized to create awareness on nutrition sensitive agriculture among farm community for nutritional security for farm women and children.

Smt Janita Madkaikar, Sarpanch Old Goa, was the chief guest for the function and stressed upon role of women in agriculture. Smt Sangeeta Porab, Joint Director, ICDS, Govt. of Goa, was guest of honor and spoke on role of Anganwadi worker to develop Nutri Smart Village. Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director(A), ICAR- CCARI, Goa stressed on importance of dairy products in human diet. Shri Dharma Shetgaonkar, Field Officer, IFFCO LTD, shared information of IFFCO products and sponsored the programme with seed kits. Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Sr. Scientist and Head, ICAR – KVK, North Goa, ICAR – CCARI, Goa, welcomed the gathering and shared his views on vegetable cultivation and Nutri Garden. Smt Sunetra Talaulikar, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science) expalined brief significance about organizing POSHAN MAAH programme as a flag ship programme of ICAR, New Delhi, in collaboration with Ministry of Women and Child Development and IFFCO. She also appealed to all the Anganwadi workers to make model of Nutri Garden in all anganwadies and gave the importance of Nutri Thali to combat malnutrition.

On this occasion one technical folder was released on Nutritious recipes by making use of locally available food items. During technical session Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Sr. Scientist and Head, Shri H. R. C. Prabhu, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), Smt Sunetra Talaulikar, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science), Shri Vinod Ubharhande, Farm Superintendent, Shri Shashi Vishwakarma, Technical Officer (Soil) and  Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati, Technical Officer (Computer) delivered lectures on different aspects of Agriculture and Nutrition.

The programme was attended by 100 participants (40 Anganwadi Workers, 54 Farm Women and 06 Farmers). The programme was organized as per SOP norms keeping social distancing. Each participant was provided with mask and sanitizer.
