Farmers-Stakeholders-Scientist interaction meet and visit on Khazan lands organized by   ICAR-CCARI

          ICAR-Central coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa organized a Farmers-Stakeholders-Scientist interaction visit-cum-meet on Khazan lands on 18-10-2023. The meet and visit was organized at a experimental farm in Merces, Tiswadi. The programme was organized under a project entitled ‘Land Shaping methods and integrated farming systems approach for improving livelihood security of farmers under Khazan lands of Goa” funded by NABARD, Panaji, Goa and implemented by ICAR-CCARI, Goa in collaboration with GCCI, Goa and Directorate of Agriculture, Govt of Goa.

The purpose of meet was to discussed issues and challenges faced by farmers practicing khazan lands, i.e. coastal saline soil. Further, evaluation of land shaping methods with integration of farming systems was discussed. The meet was attended by scientist and technical officer of ICAR-CCARI, officials of GCCI Goa and NABARD, Panaji, Goa. Further, a way forward was discussed for sustainable agricultural production on these lands. Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Sr. Scientist (Soil Science) was coordinator of the programme.
