Director visited Rice and Ragi Seed Production Plots in Kanakumbi Village, Karnataka

    Dr. Parveen Kumar, the Director of ICAR-CCARI, recently made a visit to rice and ragi seed production plots located at Kanakumbi village of Karnataka state on 9th September 2023. Dr. Manohara KK, Senior Scientist and the Nodal Officer of the AICRP on Seed (Crops) project accompanied the Director during his visit. Mr. Madhav Sahakari, a progressive farmer who has been actively engaged in rice and ragi seed production on his 30-acre farm for the last three years explained different activities to the Director. During the visit, Dr. Parveen Kumar conducted a thorough inspection of the entire seed production plots and provided valuable guidance to Mr. Sahakari on implementing best practices for achieving a successful crop harvest. He highlighted the significance of high-quality seeds in achieving robust crop yields and offered recommendations on essential measures to control pests and diseases affecting paddy and ragi crops. Furthermore, Dr. Kumar stressed the importance of optimal resource utilization to maximize returns from agricultural endeavors.
