Valedictory function of International Training Program  jointly organized by ICAR- CCARI, Goa and CIFOR-ICRAF, New Delhi

 

    ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, Goa in collaboration with Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) have   organized five days International Training Program on Diversification of Coastal Agroecosystems for Climate Resilience and Livelihood Security” from 07 to 11 November 2022. Shri Mahesh Patil, Goa State Pollution Control Board, Govt of Goa was the Chief Guest of the valedictory function. In his address, Shri Mahesh Patil briefed about the importance of traditional systems and knowledge in managing the coastal agroecosystems. He further quoted his international experiences in upscaling the agro-ecotourism units in different South East Asian countries. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director ICAR-CCARI, Goa in his welcome address stressed upon the importance of diversification in agricultural systems to fight climate change and to attain sustainable income.  Dr. Shiv Kumar Dhyani, Country Coordinator, CIFOR-ICRAF, New Delhi gave a brief summary of the five days training programme to the gathering. The valedictory function was attended by 8 foreign and 6 national participants physically from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Maldives and Vietnam.  Dr. Aqeel Rizvi, CIFOR- ICRAF, New Delhi, Co-Course Director of the training programme proposed the vote of thanks and Dr Uthappa A. R., Scientist (Agroforestry) and Co-Course Director of the training programme compered the programme.
