ICAR-KVK North Goa, ICAR CCARI Goa conducted Field Day at Ibrampur

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) North Goa, ICAR-CCARI Goa, organized a Field Day on "Assessment of Enhancing Milk Fat and SNF by Supplementing Sodium Bicarbonate and Yeast in Crossbred Dairy Animals" at Ibrampur, Pedne, on December 20, 2024. Officials from ATMA North Goa and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Goa State, also attended the program.

Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior Scientist in Veterinary Pathology, gave an informative session on the use of antibiotics in livestock and the impact of metabolic diseases on milk production in cattle. Dr. Udharwar S.V., Subject Matter Specialist in Animal Science and Head of KVK, welcomed the participants and explained the positive results of the supplementation trial. He highlighted the significant increase in both milk yield and quality, which led to higher milk prices after supplementing Sodium Bicarbonate and Yeast during the early lactation phase (the first 90 days) of lactating animals.

The event was attended by 28 individuals, including 17 male and 9 female farmers, along with 4 officials from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and 3 officials from ATMA North Goa. The farmers were also taken on a site visit to Shri Sakharam Kalangutkar’s Dairy Farm, where the trial was conducted. During the visit, dairy farmers and officials had in-depth discussions about the trial and its results.

The program was well-coordinated by Dr. Udharwar S.V., Shri Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati, Technical Officer (Computer), who ensured the event was smoothly carried out.
