ICAR-KVK, North Goa participated in Gram Sabha at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bambolim, Goa
ICAR-KVK, North Goa, participated in the Gram Sabha at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bambolim Camp, in collaboration with the Gram panchayat of Curca on 28th November 2024. Mr. Bidhan Chandra Singh, Principal of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Bambolim Camp, welcomed the gathering and briefed them about the Gram Sabha to be conducted by the Vidyalaya to raise awareness among the students about soil health. Ms. Diona S. Korgaonkar, Sarpanch of Curca village, inaugurated the program and urged farmers to make use of the Fertilizer App developed by ICAR-CCARI Goa. She emphasized the importance of adopting technology in farming practices for better resource management and improving soil health. Dr. Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, SMS (Animal Science) and In-Charge, KVK, delivered a talk on "Scientific Management of Cattle and Value Addition of Milk, Dung, and Urine." He emphasized on the importance of modern cattle management to improve health, productivity, and welfare, and discussed innovative ways to utilize milk, dung, and urine for value-added products, highlighting their economic and environmental benefits. Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), delivered a lecture on the principles of natural farming, highlighting its role in sustainable agriculture by reducing synthetic chemicals and promoting soil and ecosystem health. He discussed how natural farming can improve soil fertility, crop yield, and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO (Soil Science), explained the importance of soil health cards in assessing soil nutrients and guiding fertilization practices. He also conducted a practical session on interpreting soil health card data and applying fertilizers accordingly.
