Orientation Programme for Goa Civil Service Officers

 

 

    ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), Goa, in collaboration with GIPARD, organized a one-day orientation program on 18th September 2024 for seven Junior Scale Officers of the Goa Civil Service from the Government of Goa. The objective was to impart knowledge on agriculture and fisheries technologies developed by the institute.

    Shri Vinod Ubarhande (Farm Superintendent) highlighted the coastal agriculture sector, emphasizing the institute’s activities and achievements. He also briefed the trainee officers on the Indian and Goan agricultural scenarios, challenges such as global warming and land degradation, and solutions including integrated farming systems and climate-resilient technologies.

    Dr. Sreekanth G.B., Senior Scientist (FRM), discussed various technologies and practices in the fisheries sector aimed at improving farm productivity and income. The officers were given an overview of different research and experimental units at the institute, including the rice block, integrated farming systems, pond fish culture, ornamental fish culture, animal units, and fodder block. They also participated in a demonstration of drone-based nano-urea application in the rice block.
