ICAR – CCARI celebrated National Girl Child Day

ICAR – Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI) & ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa celebrated National Girl Child Day on 24/01/2022. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR – CCARI in his address spoke on the significance of the day and also about “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”. He appealed to the angarwadi workers to create awareness in villages among girls and ladies specially to their nutritional requirements at different age especially from age of 12-35 years in which girls/ladies have to undergo numerous physiological and hormonal changes. Mrs. Chaya Kadkade, Project Officer, Women & Child Development, Government of Goa, was Guest of Honor and in her address appreciated the efforts of institute in Girl Child & Women empowerment. During the programme two Anganwadi worker were felicitated for their contribution towards Girl Child Development. Mr. HR Chidananda Prabhu, Senior Scientist & Head In-charge, KVK – North Goa in his welcome address briefed about the important role of Anganwadi workers in creating awareness on Women & Child Development. Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar, SMS (Home Science), ICAR – KVK, North Goa proposed vote of thanks and the programme was compered by Dr. Monica Singh, SMS (Agril Extension), ICAR – KVK, North Goa.

The program was attended by 35 Anganwadi workers of Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Goa. During the technical session Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar spoke on Nutritional Requirement for Teenage Girls and Dr. Monica Singh spoke on Empowering Girl Child for better tomorrow. During the programme vegetable seed kit to promote nutri garden for nutritional security. The programme was documented by Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati, Technical Officer (Computer).
