ICAR-CCARI, Goa and Goa Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (GIPARD) jointly organized a lecture on millets

    ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), Goa and Goa Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (GIPARD) jointly organized a lecture on “Shree Anna: Role of millets in global nutritional security, climate adaptations, health and prosperity” on 31st October, 2023. The Speaker, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, in his address provided a comprehensive overview of the current state of millet cultivation and production in the country, delving into various types of millets grown. Emphasizing the significance of millet consumption, he underscored their health and nutritional benefits. He also highlighted that millets are resilient to climate variations and demand less water, positioning them as certain crops for an uncertain future.

    The training programme was attended by 20 Officers of Goa Civil Service. An exhibition featuring different millets had also been set up by Shri Dilip B Sawaikar and Smt. Ranjana Dilip Sawaikar, Brand Ambassadors for promotion of millets in Goa.
