ICAR-CCARI, Goa organizes Farmers' Awareness Program on Efficient and Balanced Use of Fertilizers (Including Nano Fertilizers) @AKAM

 

Farmers' Awareness Program on Efficient and Balanced Use of Fertilizers (Including Nano Fertilizers) was jointly organized by ICAR-CCARI, Goa and ICAR-KVK (North Goa) in association with Zonal Agriculture Office, Bicholim, Government of Goa on 21st June 2022 at Mayem village- Bicholim Taluka under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Chief Guest of the function, Shri Premendra Shet Honourable MLA - Mayem Constituency and Chairman Goa State Horticulture Corporation, in his address urged the farmers to take up farming in a scientific way and to use of judicious and efficient use of fertilizers, the importance of soil testing and to adopt integrated nutrient management practices. He appreciated the efforts taken up by ICAR-KVK (North Goa) for implementing the scientific method of farming. Shri H.R.C. Prabhu PC KVK (North Goa), in his welcome address briefed the importance of this farmers' awareness program and he highlighted the various research activities carried out in the Institute, the role of KVK in transferring the technology to the farmers. Mrs. Nilima Gawas, ZAO, Bicholim explained the various schemes of the Agriculture Department. Dr. Monica Singh SMS- KVK briefed farmers about the NICRA project to be implemented for the farmers. Sarpanch of Mayem Panchayat Mrs. Seema Asnodkar appealed the village farmers to take up the new technology, new varieties developed by the Institute also to take the advantage of various schemes of the Agriculture Department.  In the technical session, Dr. Paramesha V, Scientist (Agronomy), explained about the efficient and balanced use of fertilizer, importance of nano fertilizers, integrated nutrient management practices and organic farming. Mr. Rahul M. Kulkarni ACTO, KVK explained about the importance of soil testing, method of soil sampling, importance of soil health card, various organic manures to be used, and techniques of vermicomposting. Around 65 farmers from the village participated in this programme. The programme was compered by Mr. Rahul M. Kulkarni – ACTO, KVK and  Mr. Vishwajit Prajapati coordinated the programme.
