ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa organized training cum demonstration on Feed and feeding management of dairy cattle

ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa of CCARI, conducted training cum demonstration on Feed and feeding management of dairy cattle on 02.08.2024 for dairy farmers of Sankhali and Bicholim talukas in collaboration with Bicholim Progressive Farmers Producer Company, Bicholim and NABARD, Goa.

Mr. Pandurang Kuttikar, Vice Chairman of the Goa State Cooperative Bank, inaugurated the training program. He urged the farm community to use bank services for dairy farming. Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Sr. Scientist (Veterinary Pathology), presented a talk on metabolic disorders in dairy cattle and their management. He explained the laboratory services and diagnostic facilities at ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa. Dr. Sanjaykumar Vithalrao Udharwar, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science), delivered a lecture on 'low-cost cattle feed preparation by using readily available feed ingredients. He demonstrated the cultivation of high-yielding fodder and silage preparation methods. He urged farmers to cultivate CO-5 Hybrid Napier fodder, which can yield more than 350 tonnes per ha in Goa's agroclimatic conditions.

Shri Sandeep Dharkar, General Manager of NABARD, Goa, Dr. Samaya Veluskar, Veterinary Officer, Bicholim, and Goa State Cooperative Bank officials attended the training event. Thirty-five dairy farmers (32 males and 3 females) attended the training, including Mr. Vishwambar Gawas, Chairman of Bicholim FPC Ltd. Bicholim. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr.Shirish Narnaware, and  Dr. Udharwar S.V. coordinated the program.
