Foundation Day Celebrations
ICAR Research Complex for Goa, Old Goa, celebrated the ICAR Foundation Day on 16th July, 2014, at KVK Old Goa. On this occasion “Small and Marginal Farmers Meet on Integrated Farming System” was organized. The event was attended by 110 farmers from different adopted villages of KVK – North Goa.
The event was chaired by Shri Deepak Dhavalikar, Hon. Minister for Cooperation, Govt. Of Goa. He appreciated the important role played by ICAR Scientists and KVK officials in developing new agricultural technologies and transferring them to the farmers over last few decades. Further, he urged the farmers to take up agriculture as an enterprise for the development of the state.
Shri Pandurang Madkaikar, Hon. MLA, Kumbharjua, spoke on the occasion and requested the farmers/youth to takeup agriculture in the state which has the highest subsidy component as compared to whole country. He complimented Director ICAR for implementing Tribal Sub Plan Programme for the benefit of the farming community.
Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director, ICAR Research Complex for Goa presented the highlights of ICAR system in India and the role played by the organization in securing food security. He advised the farmers to take up the advantage of the ICAR Institute and KVK to boost agriculture for Goa.
Shri Prakash Amonkar, Sarpanch, Old Goa and Smt Sandra Fernandes, Director, Green Growth Institute, Sangolda, also spoke on this occasion.
At the outset Shri Vishram Gaonkar, Programme Coordinator Incharge welcomed the dignitaries and the farmers from different adopted villages. Farm machinery and implements were distributed during the occasion to the tribal farmers of Veling village.
