Farmer exposure visit to ICAR-CCARI, Goa

ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa, and Zonal Agriculture office, Pernem, jointly organized a farmer exposure visit to ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa, on 15.01.2025. In this event, twenty-seven participants, 15 males, and 12 females attended the program from Siolin, Verla, Saligao, Perra, Assagao, Revora, Anjuna, Mapusa, and Thivim villages of North Goa. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, North Goa, briefed the activities and achievements of KVK for the uplift of family farm income and empowerment generation. He also stressed the importance of implementing natural farming practices in agriculture to safeguard the fragile ecosystem of western ghats.

Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), briefed the farming community on the challenges and issues of adopting natural farming practices and suggested eco-friendly solutions. Mr. Rahul M. Kulkarni, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Agronomy), gave a comprehensive talk on policies and support for natural farming, highlighting government schemes and initiatives in promoting sustainable agricultural practices across Goa. Farmers visited the natural farming demonstration units, vermicomposting, goat and Azolla production, and virgin coconut oil units as part of the events. Ms. Pooja, Block Technology Manager, Mapusa, North Goa, expressed her gratitude to the speakers and participants for their active engagement and contribution to the event's success. The event was coordinated by Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Rahul M. Kulkarni, Dr. N. Bommayasamy, and Dr. Sanjay Udharwar.
