ICAR-CCARI, Goa, organized a One-Day Training Programme on Research Facility for Remote Sensing and Soil Analysis funded by DST-SERB

ICAR-CCARI, Goa, organized a One-Day Training Programme on the Research Facility for Remote Sensing and Soil Analysis under the Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) initiative of a DST-SERB funded project on 12 February 2025. A total of 18 participants (11 male and 7 female) from various colleges affiliated with Goa University and ICAR-CCARI attended the programme. In his inaugural address, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of ICAR-CCARI, Goa, emphasized the significance of open-source geo-informatics tools such as R and QGIS, along with freely available datasets, in empowering researchers to leverage remote sensing and GIS for sustainable agriculture. The training featured lectures and hands-on practical sessions conducted by distinguished scientists. It commenced with a lecture on the overview of remote sensing and GIS applications in agriculture by Dr. Bappa Das, followed by a visit to the spectroscopy and soil research facility, coordinated by Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan. Hands-on training sessions on R and QGIS were conducted by Dr. Bappa Das and Dr. Tridiv Ghosh from the North Eastern Space Applications Centre, Umiam, Meghalaya. The programme was jointly coordinated by Dr. Bappa Das and Dr. Gopal Mahajan.
