Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Hon’ble Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR visits ICAR-CCARI, Goa

 

    Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Hon’ble Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR visited ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, Goa on 22-11-2023. A one-day programe of interaction meeting and field and laboratory visit was organized. Dr. Himanshu Pathak interacted with staff of the institute during the interaction meeting. He appreciated the research achievements of the Institute and appealed the scientists to work on and formulate the innovative research to address the multifaceted challenges of the coastal region in a multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary mode. He emphasized upon newer initiatives undertaken by ICAR such as corpus funds, CSR funding, for supporting the research and development activities and promoting public-private-industry partnerships. Dr. S. K. Chaudhari, DDG (NRM), ICAR and Dr. Rajbir Singh, ADG (AAF&CC), ICAR, New Delhi also graced the occasion. During the interaction meeting, Dr. S. K. Chaudhari, DDG (NRM), ICAR, briefed about the journey of the institute from a research complex to a national institute. Consequent upon the upgradation of the institute, he complemented the efforts of the institute address the challenges and achieve the broadened mandates. Further, he suggested for collaborative research to increase the reach out to the entire coastal region. Dr. Rajbir Singh, ADG (AAF&CC), ICAR, presented statistics of the coastal region and stressed upon the responsibility of the Institute to cater to the research and development needs of the Institute. Dr. Parveen Kumar, ICAR-CCARI, Goa welcomed all the dignitaries and presented the achievements of the Institute. All the staff of ICAR-CCARI and KVK attended the interaction meeting. The dignitaries visited agro-ecotourism unit and appreciated the innovative idea of promoting the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) to promote the agro-ecotourism. The experimental units of integrated farming systems, field and horticultural crops, animal sciences, fishery science, etc. were showcased. Ongoing civil works and central instrumentation facility (CIF) was also visited on the occasion.
