ICAR KVK, CCARI, North Goa organized a training on the importance of deworming and vaccination in dairy cattle

    ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CCARI, North Goa, organized a training for dairy farmers on 23rd July 2024 regarding importance of deworming and vaccination in dairy cattle at Cumbharjua village of Tiswadi Taluka, North Goa. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head KVK, discussed the importance of regular deworming and vaccination for  cattle and buffaloes. He elucidated the significance of deworming calves and lactating cattle to enhance the calves' body weight and milk production, respectively. Dr. Sanjaykumar Vithalrao Udharwar, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) delivered lectures on important bacterial, viral diseases and protozoal diseases in cattle and their preventive measures and various deworming medicines used for the cattle. He also demonstrated the deworming and vaccination in calves and precaution to be taken after vaccination.  During the program, deworming medicines were distributed to the farmers. A total of 21 dairy farmers (six male and fifteen female), including Mr. Vihwas Sukhtankar, Chairman of Cumbarjua Dairy Cooperative Society, attended the  program. Dr Udharwar S.V., Dr N. Bommayasamy,  and Mr Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), coordinated the program.
